NOTICE OF CONCEALED OR UNKNOWN CONDITIONS. 1. If either of the following conditions is encountered at the Site when digging trenches or other excavations that extend deeper than four feet below the surface, Contractor shall give a written notice of differing site conditions to the County promptly before conditions are disturbed (except in an emergency as required by Section 1.16.D), and in no event later than seven (7) days after first observance of (a) subsurface or latent physical conditions which differ materially from those indicated in the Contract; (b) unknown physical conditions of an unusual nature or which differ materially from those ordinarily encountered and generally recognized as inherent in work of the character provided for in the Contract.
