Common use of Mutual Goal Clause in Contracts

Mutual Goal. The City and the Lodge recognize that the ability of a Member to properly perform his/her duties depends, in part, on a workplace which is free of substance abuse. In an effort to promote public safety, to provide Members who may be drug- or alcohol-dependent with an opportunity for treatment and for remaining productive Members of the Division, and in recognition that substance abuse is a problem which, depending on individual circumstances, may require intervention, rehabilitation, or discipline, it is the purpose of the Article to provide a method for responding to the risks presented by the presence of substance abuse in the workplace. The City and the Lodge agree that it is their mutual goal and pledge to maintain and assure safe and effective work and service to the citizens of the City of Gahanna by maintaining a drug-free and alcohol-free workplace.
