Mulch Replenishment. Mulch replenishment (beyond Extra Work Item #11- Spot Applications) on a large scale or community–wide basis will be accomplished on a schedule and frequency as determined by the ‘OWNER”. Mulching material of choice is shredded melaleuca (brand named: FloriMulch). The manufacturer is Forest Resources, Inc. of Ft. ▇▇▇▇▇. Application is acceptable using either bagged or bulk product, or a combination, unless directed otherwise by the “OWNER”. New plant beds will be mulched to a minimum depth of three (3) inches. New mulch is to be applied in a level profile consistent with pre-existing grades so that the final uniform mulch depth comprised of both existing and new layers will be a minimum of three (3) inches but will not exceed four (4) inches. New material will not be applied against trunks or plant stems but will taper down to the soil at those locations. In all locations where the existing mulch bed is in contact with a paved surface (i.e. sidewalks, walkways, roadway edges or curbing and driveways) the “CONTRACTOR” will lightly trench the mulch-hard surface bed line to better contain the existing and applied mulch. Mulch will be raked, swept or blown off paved areas and turf grass into beds as the work progresses.
