Common use of Monitoring and Observations Clause in Contracts

Monitoring and Observations. All monitoring and observations of the teacher shall be conducted openly. The use of any mechanical device shall be prohibited unless the teacher has full knowledge of the occurrence. Observations involving the use of mechanical devices shall be in addition to the minimum observation requirement found in the Norfolk Public Schools evaluation procedures. Any electronic record of an observation shall be kept confidential and viewed only by authorized personnel. The teacher shall be notified if the electronic record is kept beyond the employee’s next summative evaluation or the conclusion of a performance improvement plan. The administrative staff shall observe teachers in accordance with established guidelines to ensure a realistic assessment of performance.
