The Minimum Shift Lengths clause sets a required minimum duration for employee work shifts. In practice, this means that employees must be scheduled for at least a specified number of hours per shift, such as four hours, regardless of business needs or fluctuations in demand. This clause ensures that workers receive a guaranteed minimum amount of paid work per shift, protecting them from being scheduled for unreasonably short periods and providing greater income stability.
Minimum Shift Lengths. (a) If you are employed in a classification under Schedule 1 or 2, you will be rostered to work a minimum of three (3) hours per shift.
(b) If you are employed in a classification under Schedule 3 or 4, you will be rostered to work a minimum of four (4) hours per shift.
Minimum Shift Lengths. 14.4.1.1. Full-time employees may be rostered a minimum shift length of 4 hours;

Part-time and Flexible time employees may be rostered a minimum shift length of 4 hours, with the exception of part-time and flexible time Front of House, Host and Welcome Team employees who may be rostered a minimum shift length of 3.5 hours. Part-time and Flexible time Front of House, Hosts and Welcome Team employees may be rostered a shorter 3 hour shift where the employee is initially required to perform duties during a shift for less than two and three quarter (2.75) hours. Any extension of this shorter shift will result in the additional hours being paid as worked at the ordinary rate of pay with the standard minimum and maximum ordinary shift lengths applying.
14.4.1.3. Casual employees may be rostered a minimum shift length of 4 hours, with the exception of casual Tours, Front of House, Hosts and Welcome Team employees who may be rostered a minimum shift length of 3.5 hours. Casual Front of House, Hosts and Welcome Team employees may be rostered a shorter 3 hour shift where the employee is initially required to perform duties during a shift for less than two and three quarter (2.75) hours. Any extension of this shorter shift will result in the additional hours being paid as worked at normal overtime rates of pay.
Minimum Shift Lengths. The minimum shift length for normal rostered shifts for full time employees on (DOO) shall be 6 hours and for all other employees shall be 8 hours.
