Major Activities. The major activities of the Association in the exercise of this shared power shall be the cooperative efforts of the Parties in lending personnel and equipment for Fire Services. Using the experience of other USAID grant programs (Ecolinks, WWF, and ROLL) and ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇’ grant program, ▇▇▇▇▇▇ and ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ developed the manual and the activities for the year two work plan. The grants program was approved by the Advisory Council.
Major Activities. The major activities for the MX-2401 project are similar to those for other drug development projects. These include (1) development of a cost-effective manufacturing process, (2) non-clinical development, (3) clinical development (Phase I, II, III), (4) registration (regulatory filing) for product approval, and (5) marketing. For this project in particular, TPC funding will be applied towards the following major activities:
1. Development of a cost-effective manufacturing process and production of clinical and non-clinical study materials;
2. Contracting of non-clinical (in vitro and in vivo) studies to be done in support of regulatory filings;
3. Conduct of a Phase II clinical study in humans in the treatment of complicated skin and skin structure infections.
4. Conduct of a Phase III clinical study in humans in the treatment of complicated skin and skin structure infections.
Major Activities. The annual meetings for the Russia Far Eastern Secondary Wood Processing Association and the Krasnoyarsk Non-Timber Forest Products Association were held during late May and early June respectively. The FOREST Project supported meetings and consultants assisted the associations by helping them develop strategic plans. US-based consultants ▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇ and ▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇ and FOREST staff member ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ attended the annual meeting of the Russia Far Eastern Secondary Wood Processing Association. They also attended the Dalexpo 2001 Trade show. Based on the annual meeting and working with the association members, ▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇ was able to identify their priorities and write the first draft of the strategic plan. ▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇ visited and assessed more than 15 companies, learning about their challenges, products and opportunities. In addition to assessing the Russian Far East Secondary Wood Processing members, ▇▇. ▇▇▇▇▇▇ visited companies and government officials in Primorye Krai, Irkutsk and Krasnoyarsk. ▇▇. ▇▇▇▇▇▇ met with the biomass team to brief them on his observations of the secondary wood processing companies he visited. Association expert ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ attended the Krasnoyarsk Non-Timber Forest Products Association meeting in Krasnoyarsk to help build their organization. ▇▇. ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ consulted with the association and made recommendations for next steps. This was the association’s first meeting and was a great success. An example of this was seen when a small, older woman was describing her medicinal herb business when another woman interrupted with words to the effect “I’ve heard about you and have not been able to find you until this very moment.” At a break shortly afterward, both of them were seen discussing possibilities and each exuded more hope and excitement than anyone else at the meeting.
Major Activities. The final report on the baseline public opinion survey on forest fires and prevention was completed and distributed to Advisory Council members in Irkutsk. DVTRK-radio interviewed ▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇ about the survey results on June 27. Two forest fire prevention-oriented social message video clips and four audio clips have been produced. The "Vostok of Russia" ("Russian Radio") radio station is already broadcasting the audio clips and Guberniya TV will begin broadcasting the video clips broadcasting in July. "AutoRadio" is also ready to begin production of audio clips targeting people who travel by car to the forest. DVTRK-TV reported on the Children's Forest Fire Prevention even in Pereyaslovka (24th of June) for their news and children program. And "Vostok of Russia" covered this event in a special news report. Forest fire danger monitoring has begun at all three TV stations, and four radio stations use the monitoring information on their news programs.
