Long Lead-Time Items Clause Samples
The Long Lead-Time Items clause identifies materials, components, or products that require a significant amount of time to procure or manufacture before they can be delivered or used in a project. In practice, this clause typically obligates one party—often the buyer or project owner—to authorize the early purchase or fabrication of these items to avoid project delays. For example, specialized equipment with a six-month delivery window may be designated as a long lead-time item, requiring advance ordering. The core function of this clause is to mitigate schedule risks by ensuring that critical items are available when needed, thereby preventing bottlenecks and delays in project execution.
