INTERVIEWING OR INTERROGATING JUVENILES ON SCHOOL PREMISES. Law enforcement interviews or interrogations with juveniles generally are conducted for the purpose of obtaining information about or involvement in alleged crimes or criminal activity. An interview or interrogation on school premises should be undertaken only if the matter is urgent. The principal or his/her designee should be present during an interview or interrogation on school premises. The child’s parent(s) or guardian(s) must be notified by the law enforcement agency after an interview or interrogation has been held with some explanation of why the interview or interrogation was held.
