Internal Procedures. Every officer covered by this Agreement shall have the right to present grievances in accordance with the following procedures: STEP 1. If either an officer or the Union feels they or it have been aggrieved, they shall discuss the grievance with the Captain’s Association President or a designated representative of the Captain’s Association President. If the grievance is not satisfactorily resolved in this manner, the Captain’s Association President or a designated representative of the Captain’s Association President shall file the grievance verbally or in writing within fifteen (15) working days with the Chief of Police who shall answer the grievance in writing within fifteen (15) days of its receipt. STEP 2. A meeting between the Chief of Police and the Captain’s Association President or a designated representative of the Captain’s Association President shall be held to discuss the grievance during and within the aforesaid fifteen (15) day period. STEP 3. If a satisfactory settlement is not reached in Step 2, or a written answer is not submitted within the fifteen (15) day limit as prescribed in Step 1, the grievance shall be submitted in written form within fifteen (15) days to the Human Resources Director or his designee. By the Board’s adoption of this Agreement, it acknowledges that the Human Resources Director can make the decision for the Board until such time as it is revoked.
