Header Repair. This work shall consist of sawcutting the existing slab, abutment header, median and sidewalk to limits shown, removal and disposal of designated concrete, the preparation of the surface, cleaning of existing reinforcement steel, furnishing and placing new epoxy-coated reinforcement steel, placing of Quick Setting concrete patch material, Type 1A. Removal of existing concrete will be a minimum of 4”. If stud anchors are exposed during removal of deteriorated concrete, the removal of existing concrete will extend down to a minimum of 2” below the bottom of the stud anchor. Replace any damaged stud anchors. If existing reinforcement steel does not extend to sound concrete area into the repair area, drill concrete and install 12” long # 13 epoxy coated rebars at 6” spacing. Install dowels into existing concrete. Header repair shall include all provisions of the Standard Details excluding the new Joint Sealer which will not be included as part of this item. No payment will be made to the contractor for header repair until the repair area and depth are deemed acceptable by the Resident Engineer and/or his inspectors. The item, “BRIDGE HEADER REPAIR” will only be paid for concrete repairs performed on the actual headers of the structure, off the deck and approach roadways.
