FOREMEN. The selection and number of craft ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ and/or general ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. All foremen shall take orders exclusively from the designated Contractor representatives. Craft ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ shall be designated as working ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ at the request of the Contractors.
FOREMEN. The selection and number of craft foremen and/or general foremen shall be the responsibility of the Contractor, consistent with the Schedule A’s. All foremen shall take orders exclusively from the designated Contractor representatives. Craft foremen shall be designated as working foremen at the request of the Contractors.
FOREMEN. Section 1. All Labor Foremen and Hod Carrier Foremen are included in the bargaining unit. The ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ shall be selected by the Employer and take directions from same. Section 2. When five (5) or more Laborers, or five (5) or more Hod Carriers are employed on any one project, a ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ will be employed. Said ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ may perform manual labor but he shall receive the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ rate as stipulated herein. Section 3. When there are three (3) or more Foremen on a project, one (1) shall be assigned as General ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇. Section 4. In no case shall a ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ have the authority to hire or discharge Employees. All hiring and discharging will be done either by the Superintendent of the Party of the First Part, or by the Party of the First Part. Section 5. At no time shall one ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ have more than fifteen (15) Laborers or Hod Carriers under his leadership. The principal duties of a Labor ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ with fifteen (15) Employees is to supervise and direct the work force.
FOREMEN. 14.1 It is understood that foremen hold a key position in the relationship between the Employers and the Union. Both parties agree that every effort should be made to recruit and retain foremen who have a high degree of efficiency in the performance of their jobs and in the handling of their men. Recognizing the responsibilities involved in being a supervisor and a member of a Union, the Employers and the Union will make every effort to minimize problems that may arise which concern the relationship between the foremen, the Employers and the Union. 14.2 Foremen are the first level of management supervision and, as such, are management representatives. In this capacity, they will exercise duties and responsibilities, as established by their Employers, and will not work with the tools of the trade, except as specified elsewhere in the collective agreement. The parties recognize the responsibility of foremen to discharge their managerial duties. If the Union feels that a ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ is not discharging his managerial duties in a manner that is fair, equitable and without bias, or if an Employer feels that the Union is interfering with a ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ in the performance of his managerial duties, the Employer or the Union may refer the problem to the Project Committee for resolution. If the matter cannot be resolved by the Project Committee, the grievance procedure may be invoked by either party. 14.3 The selection and retention of foremen will be the responsibility of the Employers. When making appointments to the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ level, the Employers will give consideration to those journeymen they presently employ. The appointment of foremen in charge of composite or mixed crews will take into account the nature of the work to be done. 14.4 In accordance with Article 10 – Union Security and Article 14.3 above, the appropriate Union affiliation for foremen shall be determined, as follows: (a) Foremen appointed by internal promotion shall retain the Union membership held prior to appointment. (b) Foremen recruited externally shall: (i) if a Union member, continue that Union membership; or (ii) if not a Union member, join the Union in keeping with the nature of the work to be done. FOREMEN. As a condition of employment, all foremen covered by this Agreement shall either be members of, or will apply for membership in, the Union within seven (7) days of employment. It shall also be a condition of continued employment that foremen maintain their union membership in good standing.
FOREMEN. A. The Employer has the right of choosing their ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ who must be a qualified, experienced Cement ▇▇▇▇▇. B. Where there are three (3) or more Cement Masons employed on the job, one (1) shall be paid ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇’▇ rate as specified in Schedule “A”. C. When the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ has six (6) or more employees under their supervision, they may not be required to use any tools other than those necessary in laying out work and for the establishing of lines and grades. D. The Cement ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ shall be in charge of all work falling within the jurisdiction of the Cement Masons. If a Cement ▇▇▇▇▇ refuses to follow instructions of their ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ in performing such work which comes within jurisdiction of the Union or leaves the job without permission of the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, the employee shall be deemed to be terminated and shall be entitled to pay only for the actual time worked on that shift. The Cement ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ shall accept orders from the Employer or their representative. E. Foremen may be permitted to operate a machine in an emergency at his regular rate of pay when no other member of the crew is so qualified.
FOREMEN. Where there are two (2) or more journeymen on the same shift, one (1) shall be a ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ and shall receive ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇'▇ pay and may work with his tools until such a time as there are five (5) Millwrights employed after which he shall act as a ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ and shall not normally work with his tools.
