Force Hire. 21.7.1 To prevent a force hire, “qualified/certified” personnel may be assigned additional time at ranks below their current rank. In reference to the Engineer rank, individuals must have previously held that rank in order to be assigned. The person with the rank closest to the vacancy will be utilized first.
21.7.2 An individual who is force hired may elect to have an individual one rank above with qualifications to cover their assignment.
Force Hire. Notwithstanding any provision to the contrary, any employee directed to work on a scheduled day off; and, any employee required to continue working a shift or part of a shift immediately after working the previous shift, shall be paid at the time and one-half overtime rate.
Force Hire. If a vacancy exists that is not filled voluntarily, force hire will be administered. After a reasonable amount of time has passed for voluntary signups, eligible employees will be contacted in order from the top to bottom on the revolving Force Hire list. Once assigned to a force hire slot, the employee’s name will be moved to the bottom of the next number category and their force hire date changed. Employees who are newly eligible for force hire will be placed at the top of the first number category which contains at least three names. Force Hire. If a vacancy exists in the upcoming 48 hours, off going employees are assigned by a shift lieutenant to slot one (first 24 hours) and slot two (second 24 hours) respectively, according to force hire list, to fulfill classification qualifications for each position. The force hire list automatically moves the person who was last force hired to the bottom of the list.
