Common use of Flushing Clause in Contracts

Flushing. 1. Prior to testing, water mains shall be cleaned and flushed to remove all sand and foreign matter. Water used for filling and cleaning shall be from an approved potable water source. Sufficient flushing water shall be introduced into the mains to produce a scouring velocity of not less than 3.5 feet per second to resuspend the solids, and this rate of flow shall be continued until the discharge is clear and no evidence of silt or foreign matter is visible. The Contractor shall dispose of all water used for flushing without causing a nuisance or property damage.
