Firefighting measures Sample Clauses
The 'Firefighting measures' clause outlines the procedures and responsibilities for responding to fires at a property or worksite. Firefighting measures. Suitable extinguishing media : Water spray Alcohol-resistant foam Carbon dioxide (CO2) Dry chemical Unsuitable extinguishing media : High volume water jet Specific hazards during fire- fighting : Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire. Cool closed containers exposed to fire with water spray. Flash back possible over considerable distance. May form explosive mixtures in air. Exposure to decomposition products may be a hazard to health. Version 1.1 MSDS Number: 400000005188 Revision Date: 12/22/2015 Specific extinguishing meth- ods : Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local cir- cumstances and the surrounding environment. Use water spray to cool unopened containers. Further information : Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Special protective equipment for firefighters : In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Use personal protective equipment.
Firefighting measures. Hazchem Code Suitable extinguishing media: This material does not burn. If exposed to fire from another source, use suitable extinguishing agent for that fire. Unsuitable extinguishing media: No data available Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture Hazardous combustion products: During a fire, smoke may contain the original material in addition to combustion products of varying composition which may be toxic and/or irritating. Combustion products may include and are not limited to: Nitrogen oxides. Hydrogen fluoride. Hydrogen chloride. Carbon monoxide. Carbon dioxide. Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: None known. Advice for firefighters Fire Fighting Procedures: Keep people away. Isolate fire and deny unnecessary entry. Consider feasibility of a controlled burn to minimize environment damage. Foam fire extinguishing system is preferred because uncontrolled water can spread possible contamination. This material does not burn. Fight fire for other material that is burning. Special protective equipment for firefighters: Wear positive-pressure self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and protective fire fighting clothing (includes fire fighting helmet, coat, trousers, boots, and gloves). Avoid contact with this material during fire fighting operations. If contact is likely, change to full chemical resistant fire fighting clothing with self-contained breathing apparatus. If this is not available, wear full chemical resistant clothing with self-contained breathing apparatus and fight fire from a remote location. For protective equipment in post-fire or non-fire clean-up situations, refer to the relevant sections.
