Filling. TS-47 All filling materials shall be approved by the Managing Official before being placed in position. Approved earth, sand, or any other suitable material free from rubbish shall be used to make up levels as shown on the Drawings. The material shall be placed in successive layers each having a finished thickness not exceeding 250mm before compaction, watered and compacted to at least 98% compaction ratio of the maximum dry density of the Modified ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ test (ASTM D-1557) prior to the placement of the succeeding layer.
