FEDERATION SECURITY. Section 1. Upon receipt of written authorization from an employee covered by this Agreement, the Employer shall deduct from the employee's pay the amount owed to the Federation by such employee for dues. The Employer will remit to the Federation such sums within 30 calendar days of receipt. Changes in the Federation membership dues rate will be certified to the Employer in writing signed by the authorized officer or officers of the Federation and the Federation shall notify Employer at least 30 calendar days in advance of such change.
Section 2. The Employer, within 30 calendar days of the signing of this Agreement, shall present the Federation with a list of the names and addresses of all current employees covered by this Agreement, and shall update list each month for all new hires.
Section 3. The Federation shall indemnify, defend, and hold the Employer harmless against any claim made and against any suit instituted against the Employer, including attorney's fees and costs of defense thereof, on account of any provision of this Article.

Section 2. FEDERATION SECURITY. The College hereby agrees that every academic employee shall have the right freely to organize, join, and support the Federation for the purpose of engaging in collective bargaining or negotiation and other concerted activities for mutual aid and protection. The College agrees that it will not discriminate against any academic employee with respect to hours, wages, or any terms or conditions of employment by reason of membership in the Federation, participation in any lawful activities of the Federation or collective negotiations with the College or any grievance, complaint, or proceeding under this Agreement. Nothing in this section shall be construed to diminish the opportunity of the College to utilize any legal remedies available.

It is recognized that the Federation is required to represent allemployees in the bargaining unit fairly and equally without regard to whether or not an employee is a member of the Federation.

Section 5. Designated Federation representatives shall receive opportunity to provide membership information to union-represented positions during the employee onboarding process. The Federation and the Employer agree that the employer shall direct all newly hired bargaining unit members and current bargaining unit members who have questions and concerns regarding union membership to contact the Federation designated representatives.

Changes in the Union membership dues rate will be certified to the Employer in writing over the signature of the authorized officer or officers of the Union and shall be done at least annually with thirty (30) calendar days in advance of such change.
Section 3. Within thirty (30) days of the signing of this Agreement or within thirty (30) days of employment, all employees covered by the terms of this Agreement shall elect if they choose to join the union.
Section 4. The Employer will provide the Association with a list of newly hired and terminated employees at least monthly. The list may include mutually agreed upon pertinent member information and will be sent to the association.

FEDERATION SECURITY. 6.1 Bargaining unit employees who provide written consent to become Federation members shall have monthly Federation dues deducted from their paychecks commencing on the next payroll cycle following receipt of the consent by the College Payroll Department (Payroll). The amounts to be deducted shall be certified to Management by the Federation.
6.2 Bargaining unit employees may sign up for payroll deduction of Federation membership dues at any time. Federation members may stop payroll deduction of membership dues by submitting a written request to the Federation between April 21 and May 20 to stop such deductions. Such requests will be effective June 1.
6.3 Management shall remit the aggregate deductions of Federation dues for the preceding month, together with a listing identifying the employees from whom deductions are being paid, to the Federation by the tenth of the month after such deductions are made.
6.4 The Federation agrees that the College shall be indemnified and held harmless from any lawsuit, proceeding, or claim of any kind involving compliance with this Article.
6.5 In case the College receives a claim relating to action under this section, the College will promptly notify the Federation. The College will provide the Federation and its designated counsel with the information regarding the College’s actions which is necessary to defend the claim.
