Faculty Workload. The workload of faculty includes student advising, maintaining and improving expertise in a discipline and in pedagogy, serving on departmental and university committees, contributing to student growth and development, evaluating student performance, scholarly activities, and service to university and community, as well as teaching and class preparation. Additionally, as a professional, a faculty member shall devote a substantial amount of his/her workload to course preparation, research, the maintenance of professional expertise, innovations in teaching/learning and other similar activities. These endeavors shall comprise the faculty member’s workload.

Faculty Workload. ‌ The following factors (in addition to other appropriate factors) may be considered when making workload assignments: total number of students, number and nature of course preparations and student need. The instructional workload for full-time probationary and tenured faculty shall normally fall within the range of 30 to 32 credits per academic year. The instructional assignment for a full-time probationary or tenured faculty member shall normally not exceed 750 hours per year. It is recognized that the instructional workload of some full-time faculty may be less than 30 to 32 credits when there are additional non-instructional assignments. Faculty teaching more than thirty-two (32) credits or 750 hours per year shall be eligible for overload compensation in accordance with Section 10.6 or a reduction in non-instructional assignments at the discretion of the campus administration.
Faculty Workload. 8.2.1 The Department mean of student contact hours per Faculty Employee exclusive of the Manager shall not exceed twenty (20) hours per week in any term. No individual Faculty Employee shall have contact hours in excess of twenty-two (22) hours per week in any term, except by mutual agreement of the Parties, with concurrence of the Department concerned, in terms where a high attrition rate is expected.
Faculty Workload. 11.1 It is agreed by the parties hereto that the provisions of this Article are intended for the sole purpose of maintaining or enhancing the academic quality of the University. Faculty Workload. 15.1 The goals of the University require that the average workload for faculty members consist of three basic elements: (a) the basic instructional workload, (b) research, creative or professional activity and (c) service both on and off the campus.
