The Driver Certification clause establishes requirements for verifying that individuals operating vehicles meet specified qualifications and standards. Typically, this clause mandates that drivers possess valid licenses, maintain clean driving records, and may require completion of safety training or background checks. Its core function is to ensure that only competent and authorized drivers are permitted to operate vehicles, thereby reducing liability and promoting safety for all parties involved.
Driver Certification. When an employee in the rural carrier craft is required to be absent from duty to receive Vehicle Familiarization and Safe Operation Certification, the carrier shall be in a pay status and shall not be charged with leave for the day.

Driver Certification. All bus drivers must meet and maintain the certification requirements as established by state law and the applicable rules and regulations. The District shall pay the cost of any license required by the State of Michigan for a school bus driver. Each driver with more than one (1) year of service with the Employer will pay the cost of certification directly to the State of Michigan and will be reimbursed by the District immediately upon submission of proof of payment. A driver with less than one (1) year of service with the Employer will receive reimbursement one (1) year after renewal/initial certification if the employee remains employed.
Driver Certification. 3.20.1. All Qualified Drivers will, within six (6) months of employment, provide proof of completion of the qualifications identified in Section 1.28.1 of this Contract.
Driver Certification. 1. Any classified employee (excluding Bus Drivers and Mechanics) who has completed and maintains a CDL Class B, shall receive an annual stipend of two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) for years in which such license is maintained.
2. Once licensed, such classified employee will become part of the District’s emergency rotation for coverage of emergency routes. Drivers included in the District’s emergency rotation only may decline up to two (2) routes per school year offered to him/her under the emergency rotation in order to be eligible to receive the CDL Class B Stipend. Should a driver added to the emergency rotation decline more than two (2) routes in a school year, such driver will not receive the CDL Class B Stipend, which will be paid at the end of the fiscal year. Emergency rotation drivers who are also supplemental contract holders will not be penalized if they must decline emergency routes in order to carry out required supplemental duties.
