Common use of Design Process Clause in Contracts

Design Process. 17.1 Unless otherwise agreed by the Owner, the Design-Builder will submit Drawings and Specifications and supporting information to the Owner for review under the Review Procedure at the following Design stages: (a) schematic design; (b) design development; (c) pre-tender Drawings and Specifications; and (d) 100% “issued for construction” Drawings and Specifications. 17.2 Within 30 days after the Effective Date, the Design-Builder will deliver to the Owner the schematic design Drawings and Specifications for the Project. 17.3 After review of the Submittals at the pre-tender Drawings and Specifications stage by the Owner, the Design-Builder will finalize and complete the “issued for construction” Drawings and Specifications. The Design-Builder will provide 5 copies of the final “issued for construction” Drawings and Specifications, and any revisions, to the Owner together with a certificate from the Design-Builder’s Consultant that the “issued for construction” Drawings and Specifications conform to the requirements of this Agreement and Submittals from the pre-tender Drawings and Specifications stage (including to address comments received from the Owner). The Design- Builder will provide the Drawings and Specifications in AutoCAD DXF, AutoCAD DWG and Adobe PDF format acceptable to the Owner, acting reasonably. 17.4 Without limiting the generality of Section 17.1, each of the Submittals in this Section 17 must be formatted in a manner and contain detail that is satisfactory to the Owner. The Submittals must have clearly identified sections for: (a) architectural design; (b) structural design; (c) mechanical design; (d) electrical design; and (e) sustainable design. 17.5 Each of the Submittals in this Section 17 must contain: (a) 5 sets of Drawings at 50% scale and 1 set of Drawings at full scale; (b) 5 sets of Specifications; (c) 5 sets of supporting material (such as: code analysis, energy cost models, acoustic design reports, correspondence, etc.); (d) relevant design calculations and material specifications; (e) reports showing the Design decision process, criteria and assumptions used to develop the Design; (f) at the schematic design stage, exterior perspectives; (g) at the design development stage, interior perspectives; (h) at the design development stage, all development and building permit drawings and design; (i) any other information the Design-Builder determines will assist the Owner (such as: models or three-dimensional renderings); (j) a certificate from the Design-Builder’s Consultant that the Drawings and Specifications conform to the requirements of this Agreement; and (k) any other information that the Owner may reasonably request. 17.6 The Design-Builder will also comply with any requirements set out in the Statement of Requirements in relation to the stages and process for Design, including with respect to meetings, presentations, mock-ups and User Consultation Groups.

The Design- Builder will provide the Drawings and Specifications on a cloud-based system in AutoCAD DXF, AutoCAD DWG and Adobe PDF format acceptable to the Owner, acting reasonably. 17.4 Without limiting the generality of Section 17.1, each of the Submittals must comply with all requirements set out in this Section 17 and in Schedule 2 – Review Procedure, and without limiting the foregoing, must be formatted in a manner and contain detail that is satisfactory to the Owner. The Submittals must have clearly identified sections for: (a) architectural design; (b) structural design; (c) mechanical design; (d) electrical design; and (e) sustainable design. 17.5 Each Without limiting the requirements set out in Appendix 2A – Submittals, each of the Submittals referred to in this Section 17 must contain: (a) 5 sets of Drawings at 50% scale and 1 set of Drawings at full scale; (b) 5 sets of Specifications; (c) 5 sets of supporting material (such as: code analysis, energy cost models, acoustic design reports, correspondence, etc.); (d) relevant design calculations and material specifications; (e) reports showing the Design decision process, criteria and assumptions used to develop the Design; (f) at the schematic design stage, exterior perspectivesall content required by Appendix 2A – Submittals; (g) at the design development stage, interior perspectives; (h) at the design development stage, all development and building permit drawings and design; (i) any other information the Design-Builder determines will assist the Owner (such as: models or three-dimensional renderings); (jh) a certificate from the Design-Builder’s Consultant that the Drawings and Specifications conform to the requirements of this Agreement; and (ki) any other information that the Owner may reasonably request. 17.6 The Design-Builder will also comply with any requirements set out in the Statement of Requirements in relation to the stages and process for Design, including with respect to meetings, presentations, mock-ups and User Consultation Groups.request.‌

The Design-Design- Builder will provide 5 3 copies of the final “issued for construction” Drawings and Specifications, and any revisions, to the Owner together with a certificate from the Design-Builder’s Consultant that the “issued for construction” Drawings and Specifications conform to the requirements of this Agreement and Submittals from the pre-tender Drawings and Specifications stage (including to address comments received from the Owner)Agreement. The Design- Design-Builder will provide the Drawings and Specifications on a USB stick in AutoCAD DXF, AutoCAD DWG Revit and Adobe PDF format acceptable to the Owner, acting reasonably. 17.4 Without limiting the generality of Section 17.1, each of the Submittals in this Section 17 must be formatted in a manner and contain detail that is satisfactory to the Owner. The Submittals must have clearly identified sections for: (a) architectural design; (b) site development and landscaping; (c) civil design; (d) structural design; (ce) mechanical design; (df) electrical design; (g) Modular construction design; and (eh) sustainable designenergy analysis for compliance with Step 4 of the BC Energy Code. 17.5 Each of the Submittals in this Section 17 must contain: (a) 5 2 sets of Drawings at 50% scale and 1 set of Drawings at full scale, 2 sets of Drawings in an 11” x 17” format and an Adobe PDF copy of the information from each discipline as outlined in Section 17.4; (b) 5 sets of SpecificationsSpecifications in Adobe PDF format; (c) 5 sets of supporting material (such as: code analysis, energy cost models, acoustic design reports, correspondence, etc.)) in Adobe PDF format; (d) relevant design calculations and material specifications; (e) reports showing the Design decision process, criteria and assumptions used to develop the Design; (f) at the schematic design stage, exterior perspectives; (g) at the design development stage, interior perspectives; (h) at the design development stage, all development and building permit drawings and design; (i) any other information the Design-Builder determines will assist the Owner (such as: models or three-dimensional renderings); (jf) a certificate from the Design-Builder’s Consultant that the Drawings and Specifications conform to the requirements of this Agreement; and (kg) any other information set out in the Statement of Requirements or that the Owner may reasonably request. 17.6 The Design-Builder will also comply with any requirements set out in the Statement of Requirements in relation to the stages and process for Design, including with respect to meetings, presentations, presentations and mock-ups ups. 17.7 Unless otherwise required by the Owner, the Design-Builder will provide and User Consultation Groupsuse, and make available to the Owner and representatives of the Owner, a secure and confidential internet- based system for the storage and exchange of Design documentation in electronic format acceptable to the Owner.

The Submittals must have clearly identified sections for: (a) architectural design; (b) structural designsite development and landscaping; (c) mechanical civil design; (d) electrical structural design; (e) mechanical design; and (ef) sustainable electrical design. 17.5 Each of the Submittals in this Section 17 must contain: (a) 5 2 sets of Drawings at 50% scale (11x17 acceptable) and 1 set 2 sets of Drawings at full scale; (b) 5 3 sets of Specifications; (c) 5 3 sets of supporting material (such as: code analysis, energy cost models, acoustic design reports, correspondence, etc.); (d) relevant design calculations and material specifications; (e) reports showing the Design decision process, criteria and assumptions used to develop the Design; (f) at the schematic design 30% stage, exterior perspectives; (g) at the design development 60% stage, interior perspectives; (h) at the design development 60% stage, all development and building permit drawings and design; (i) any other information the Design-Builder determines will assist the Owner (such as: models or three-dimensional renderings); (j) a certificate from the Design-Builder’s Consultant that the Drawings and Specifications conform to the requirements of this Agreement; and (k) any other information that the Owner may reasonably request. 17.6 The Design-Builder will also comply with any requirements set out in the Statement of Requirements in relation to the stages and process for Design, including with respect to meetings, presentations, mock-ups and User Consultation Groupsuser groups. 17.7 Unless otherwise required by the Owner, the Design-Builder will provide and use, and make available to the Owner and representatives of the Owner, a secure and confidential internet- based system for the storage and exchange of Design documentation in electronic format acceptable to the Owner.
