D.E.C.E. Pending Certification Clause Samples
D.E.C.E. Pending Certification. A DECE who is hired to fill a permanent DECE vacancy, who is eligible and has applied for membership in the College and is awaiting acceptance, may be hired to fill such vacancy as a “DECE Pending Certification”, unless such is expressly prohibited by legislation or the College, and the following shall apply:
(a) Prior to the first day worked in the position, a DECE Pending Certification shall provide the Board with documented verification that he or she has graduated from an approved Early Childhood Educator training program and has applied to the College for certification as a Registered Early Childhood Educator (“R.E.C.E.”) A failure to provide the required verification shall result in immediate termination of the DECE’s employment.
(b) A DECE Pending Certification must have applied for, received and produced to the Board, certification with the College no later than ninety (90) days from the date of hire. The deadline may be extended by mutual agreement in unusual circumstances.
(c) A DECE Pending Certification shall not receive the following entitlements:
(i) Seniority credit for purposes of Article L11.00; and
(ii) Experience credit under Article L6.00. A DECE who is subsequently granted certification with the College as an R.E.C.E. shall receive the preceding entitlements, retroactive to the original date of hire.
(d) If a DECE Pending Certification is denied certification and does not re-apply, or if certification is not granted and produced to the Board as required pursuant to paragraph (b), the DECE’s employment shall be terminated, and all entitlements under this Agreement shall immediately cease.
