Common use of Cyber-Harassment Clause in Contracts

Cyber-Harassment. As of January 17, 2014, cyber-harassment constitutes a separate criminal offense in New Jersey (N.J.S.A. 2C:33-4.1). The new law targets online communications that threaten to inflict a crime, an injury, physical harm, or are made with the intent to emotionally harm a reasonable person or to place a reasonable person in fear of physical or emotional harm. The offense of cyber-harassment may be charged as either a third or fourth degree felony, depending on the ages of the target and harasser.
