Common use of COMMITMENT TO ENVIRONMENTAL IMPROVEMENT Clause in Contracts

COMMITMENT TO ENVIRONMENTAL IMPROVEMENT. 18.1 The Contractor shall work with the Council in so far as necessary to improve the effects of the Service on the environment both in terms of the direct effects and the service effects. The Contractor shall use its best endeavours to strive to improve the for the best possible environmental efficiency in the provision of the Services and shall to this end provide a flexible approach to the management of these Services and shall during the Contract Period: 18.1.1 demonstrate to the Council a commitment to continuous improvement and to employing the best practicable environmental options in the provision of the Services; and 18.1.2 demonstrate to the Council a commitment to compliance with environmental legislation as may change from time to time; and 18.1.3 demonstrate to the Council a commitment to managing and operating the Service in accordance with best practice.. 18.2 The Contractor, shall consider environmental efficiency on an ongoing basis throughout the provision of the Services. In this respect, the Contractor shall have regard to the following: 18.2.1 energy management – the efficient use of energy for buildings and equipment used; 18.2.2 resource management – the efficient use of sustainable resources; 18.2.3 transport management – the use of energy efficient vehicles; 18.2.4 waste management – the use of safe and environmentally sound disposal/treatment methods for waste generated directly by the Contractor; and 18.2.5 water management – the efficient use and reuse of water.
