The 'Commence work' clause defines when a contractor or service provider is authorized to begin performing their obligations under an agreement. Typically, this clause specifies a particular date, event, or condition—such as receipt of a notice to proceed or fulfillment of certain preconditions—that must occur before work can start. By clearly establishing the official start time for work, this clause helps prevent misunderstandings about project timelines and ensures that both parties are aligned on when contractual duties commence.
Commence work. Grantee shall not commence work under the grant agreement until they have obtained all the insurance described below. Grantee shall maintain such insurance in force and effect throughout the term of the grant agreement.
