Climbing Space Clause Samples
Climbing Space. A clear climbing space must be maintained at all times on the face of the Pole. All Attachments must be placed so as to allow and maintain a clear and proper climbing space on the face of the District Pole. Licensee’s cable/wire Attachments shall be placed on the same side of the Pole as those of other attaching entities. In general, all other Attachments and Risers should be placed on Pole quarter faces. (See Drawing A-08.)
Climbing Space that portion of a Pole’s surface and surrounding space that is free from encumbrances to enable District employees and contractors to safely climb, access and work on District Facilities and equipment.
Climbing Space. A clear Climbing Space must be maintained at all times on the quarter face of the pole. All Attachments must be placed so as to allow and maintain a clear and proper Climbing Space on the quarter face of the pole. Attachments shall be placed on the same side of the Pole as those of other licensees. In general, all other Attachments and Risers should be placed on Pole quarter faces.
Climbing Space. All poles shall be climbable to the requirements of the NESC. Attachments shall neither obstruct the climbing space nor present a climbing hazard to utility personnel.
1. Both back quadrants of the pole are reserved for climbing by utility personnel, no attachments shall be made in these quadrants. (see Figure 1 below)
2. A clear climbing space of 30 inches between communication cables must be provided. This space must extend 42 inches above and below the limiting cables.
3. Service Drops are to be taken off the strand at least 24 inches from the outside of the pole using a crimp-on method, not off the pole with temporary equipment (j-hooks, etc.).
4. All service drops shall be so arranged as not to interfere with climbing or working space.

Licensee's cable/wire Attachments shall be placed on the same side of the pole as those of other Attaching Entities. In general, all other Attachments and risers should be placed on pole quarter faces.
Climbing Space. ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ accepts the Pole “as is.” Attacher shall check and verify the condition of any Pole prior to climbing or performing work at its sole risk. If a Pole is deemed unsafe, Attacher must immediately notify Wellsboro Electric Company.
Climbing Space. An unobstructed climbing space must be maintained at all times on the face of all Distribution Poles as required by Electrical Code, as well as adequate ground access to Distribution Poles. All Attachments must be placed as to allow and maintain a clear and proper climbing space. Licensee shall place its Attachments on the same side of the Pole as the majority of existing Attachments, if any.
Climbing Space. All facilities shall be installed in a manner that maintains adequate climbing space. The NESC defines the climbing space as a series of boxes 30 inches wide by 30 inches deep extending up the pole. See Figure 5 for more details.
