Common use of Classification of investments Clause in Contracts

Classification of investments. In classifying investments as 'held-for-trading' the Company has determined securities which are acquired with the intention to trade by taking advantage of short term market / interest rate movements and are to be sold within 90 days. In classifying investments as 'held-to-maturity' the Company follows the guidance provided in SBP circulars on classifying non derivative financial assets with fixed or determinable payments and fixed maturity. In making this judgement, the Company evaluates its intention and ability to hold such investment to maturity. The investments which are not classified as 'held-for-trading' or 'held-to-maturity' are classified as 'available-for-sale'.
