Circumstances for Testing. This policy requires that drug and alcohol tests be given to City firefighters in the following circumstances: A. Pre-employment Testing. Applicants for employment in the class of firefighter and any officer position not filled internally must be given a pre-employment drug test. Firefighter applicants may not be hired or assigned to duty unless they complete and pass the test. Prior to conducting the drug test, the City will inform the applicant of the testing requirements.
