Charrette. Intensive planning session where designers and others collaborate on a vision for development. It provides a forum for ideas and offers the unique advantage of giving immediate feedback to the designers. More importantly, it allows everyone who participates to be a mutual author of the plan. The charrette process is focused workshop(s), which take place during the early phase of the design process. All project team members meet together to exchange ideas, encouraging generation of integrated design solutions.
Charrette. SmithGroup will conduct an on-site charrette with the project steering committee and key stakeholders, with an opportunity for ongoing public input. During the charrette, we will meet with the CLT and key stakeholders, share precedent and benchmarking examples, develop and present alternatives for feedback, create and present a preferred plan. The charrette will be open to the public, with a structured format that includes an alternatives presentation to solicit feedback and an open house to share a preliminary master plan. We envision a rough outline as follows and will work with the CLT to refine within the time allotted. Day 1:
Charrette. Consultant shall conduct the charrette in Ashland to exhibit the Conceptual Plans and Frameworks, obtain input from key stakeholders and the public and create a preferred alternative. City will arrange the charrette space and logistics, including ensuring proper amount of studio space with adequate facilities and provide at least one staff person full time to provide ongoing logistical support. The charrette will occur over four consecutive days and three nights with the following general schedule. Charrette workshop format shall be interactive for all participants, and shall utilize a microphone for public speakers as well as a professional facilitator to formally moderate the meeting. The Authority may utilize the services of a court reporter or other professional to document the public comments and proceedings.
Charrette. The Consultant will attend and facilitate a day long charrette-style workshop. The meeting is envisioned to span an entire day. Multiple team members from the Consultant team will participate throughout the day. The meeting can also involve other stakeholders the Client may wish to include. The purpose of the charrette is to provide a brainstorming session that reviews the previous tasks in order to allow meeting participants to collaborate on potential strategies for the study area. The Client will be responsible for identifying meeting participants, contacting meeting participants, and providing meeting facilities. The Charrette may conclude with members of the PAC providing comments on plans developed during the day.
