Building Assignment. The teaching load for teachers will be assigned by the building principal. If a classroom teacher is asked to change classrooms or an entire curriculum within two weeks of the beginning of the new school year, they will be compensated $150 for the time and efforts of the late notification. Each teacher will receive a minimum of two hundred and twenty-five minutes (225) of plan time a week based on a 5-day work week. This will be typically forty-five (45) minutes a day. Work weeks under 5 days will result in 45 minutes less plan time per day. The administration can assign duties as needed when a teacher has exceeded the 225 minutes per week. In the event that a teacher teaches an assigned class during the teacher’s planning time, the teacher will receive 1/7 of his/her salary for that class. Example: $40,250/7=$5750 All vacancies and newly created positions and/or potential positions will be posted on the Kansas Education Employment Board (KEEB) and USD 492 websites and emailed to all certified staff as they become available. I f the board decides that the s i ze of the teaching staff m ust be reduced, guidelines in the following rule or the negotiated agreement, i f applicable, shall be followed. Insofar as possible reduction of staff shall be accom pl i shed by attrition due to resignations and retirement. The fo l lowing steps will be utilized by the d i strict' s administrative staff to reduce the teaching staff: The number of teaching positions to be reduced shall be in accordance with the educational goals established by the board. The number of teachers needed to implement the d i strict' s educ ational program will then be determ ined by the administrative staff based on those educational goals in determ in ing which teachers will be nonrenewed due to reduction in force. The educational goals and needs of the d is t r ic t , individual certif ications, q ualifications, t raining, skills, evaluations, and in terests shall be considered.
