Broken Shift Allowance Clause Samples
Broken Shift Allowance. (a) An Employee required to work a broken shift with one unpaid break in accordance with clause 21.6(b) will be paid an allowance of 1.7% ($18.34) of the standard rate, per broken shift.
(b) An Employee who agrees to work a broken shift with two unpaid breaks in accordance with clause 21.6(c) will be paid an allowance of 2.25% ($24.27) of the standard rate, per broken shift.
Broken Shift Allowance. (a) Where an employee works two separate shifts in a day, they will be paid an allowance of 1.91% of the standard rate per day for each day on which a broken shift is worked.

8.9.19.1 For the purposes of this Agreement, an employee shall be deemed to have worked a broken shift if the employee is required to work two separate shifts in a day, where the unpaid break in between such periods is greater than one hour OR required to work a rostered shift in two parts, where the unpaid break in between such periods is greater than one hour.
8.9.19.2 An employee deemed to have worked a broken shift will be paid a broken shift allowance at the rates set out in the Allowance Table of this Agreement for each day the employee works a broken shift.
Broken Shift Allowance. (a) Where an employee is required to work a rostered shift in two periods of duty (excluding rest breaks) will be paid a broken shift allowance of $16.27 per rostered broken shift.
Broken Shift Allowance. A General Employee performing the work of a Bus Driver or Cleaner who is required to work a broken shift as provided for in Subclause 29.4 - Broken Shifts will be paid a broken shift allowance as set out in Table 3 - Allowances for General Employees of Schedule B - General Employees’ Rates of Pay and Allowances for each period of duty, with a maximum of two payments per day.
Broken Shift Allowance. Employees, other than casual employees, required to report to work twice per day will be paid the following extra rate per day.

Broken Shift Allowance. 33.1 This clause 33 only applies to Support Care Employees.
33.2 For the purpose of this clause 33 the expression means the entirety of a work shift which is broken into two or three periods of work (Broken Periods) separated by unpaid breaks which are not meal breaks.
33.3 If an Employer rosters or directs an Employee to work a Broken Shift of two Broken Periods, the Employee must be paid an allowance of $18.34 for the Broken Shift.
33.4 An Employee may only work a Broken Shift of three Broken Periods if:
(a) before each occasion the Employee agrees to work such a Broken Shift; or
(b) the Broken Shift forms part of the Employees regular pattern of work agreed in accordance with clause 11, in which case the Employee must be paid an allowance of $24.27 for the Broken Shift.
33.5 For the avoidance of doubt:
(a) an Employee cannot work a Broken Shift of more than three Broken Periods;
(b) a work shift broken into two periods by a paid or unpaid meal break required or provided for under this Agreement is not a Broken Shift; and
(c) other than the allowances specified above, a Broken Shift is paid as normal, and in accordance with any weekend, overtime, public holiday, or other rates or allowances that apply.
33.6 If the total span of hours for the Broken Shift, including meal breaks and breaks between the Broken Periods, exceeds 12 hours, all work performed beyond 12 hours will be paid at double time.
33.7 Employees must receive a minimum break of 10 hours between Broken Shifts on successive days.
33.8 Where an Employee makes a written request to be rostered to work Broken Shifts, broken shift allowances will not apply.
Broken Shift Allowance. A broken shift is where an employee works two periods of ordinary hours on any one day as part of one shift and where the split is other than a meal or rest break. The break between such shifts shall not exceed three (3) hours. Where split shifts are worked, they shall be worked within a maximum span of fourteen (14) hours between the time of commencement and cessation of work on that day,(exclusive of meal breaks). In some cases the span can be up to sixteen (16) hours where there is mutual agreement between the Hotel and the employee having regard to safety issues and fatigue. Split shifts shall be designated on the roster as such. Where split shifts are used, you are entitled to the break as set out in clause
Broken Shift Allowance. (a) When an employee is required to work a broken shift by the employer, the employee shall be paid for each broken shift so worked a Broken Shift Allowance as set out in Table 2 - Allowances, of Schedule A - Monetary Rates.
(b) Where an employee, not required by their employer to work a broken shift, requests in writing a change in their rostered hours such that the requested hours constitute a broken shift no allowance shall apply.
