Bobtail Sample Clauses
The Bobtail clause defines the terms under which a trucking carrier is covered by insurance when operating a vehicle without a trailer or cargo, commonly referred to as 'bobtailing.' This clause typically applies when a truck is being driven without a load, such as when returning from a delivery or traveling between jobs, and clarifies whether the carrier’s insurance or the driver’s personal insurance is responsible for coverage during these periods. Its core function is to allocate liability and ensure that there is no gap in insurance coverage when a truck is not actively engaged in transporting goods, thereby protecting both the carrier and the driver from potential uninsured losses.
