Common use of Backup for Material Cost Clause in Contracts

Backup for Material Cost. Materials costs shall include all materials required by the Contractor and incorporated into the proposal, showing costs, quantities, or unit prices of all items, and transportation costs, as appropriate. Supporting documentation shall include invoices and/or quotes from suppliers and distributors and receipted invoices for all Materials used and transportation charges. Reimbursement of materials costs shall only be allowed in the amount of the Contractor’s actual cost including any and all discounts, rebates or related credits. However, if Materials used on any changed Work are not specifically purchased for such Work but are taken from the Contractor's stock, then in lieu of the invoices the Contractor shall furnish an affidavit certifying that such Materials were taken from his/her stock, that the quantity claimed was actually used, and that the price and transportation claimed represent the actual cost to the Contractor.
