Common use of Backup Drivers Clause in Contracts

Backup Drivers. Annually on November 1st, bargaining unit members in the job classification of backup drivers shall be assigned to positions which they have bid on the basis of seniority on the shift to which they are assigned. Any permanent vacancy of less than six (6) months shall be filled by the senior firefighter assigned to the station at which the vacancy occurs. Any permanent vacancy of six (6) months or more shall be filled by the senior firefighter on the shift where the vacancy occurs.
