ARTICLE HOLIDAYS. The Society recognizes the following as paid holidays: New Years Day Labour Day Good Friday Thanksgiving Day Victoria Day Christmas Day Canada Day Boxing Day Family Day Effective for and following years, the parties agree to substitute Civic Holiday for Family Day and further agree that this substitution complies with the provisions of the Employment Standards If it is found that the substitution is in contravention of the Employment Standards the parties agree that Family Day will be substituted for Civic Holiday. To be eligible for holiday pay, an Employee must have worked all of her last regularly scheduled day of work before the public holiday and her first regularly scheduled day of work after the holiday unless reasonable cause for not doing so, is shown. Where an Employee is eligible to be paid for a paid holiday, the Employee shall be paid the average of the Employee’s daily earnings, exclusive of overtime and travel time, and inclusive of vacation pay over a period of (4) four work weeks divided by twenty (20) proceeding the paid holiday. Where an Employee qualifies for holiday pay in accordance with the provisions of this agreement, the Employee shall receive credit for seniority on the basis of an average of the service hours worked during the four (4) work weeks preceding the holiday. If an Employee is required to work on any paid holiday, she shall be paid for the holiday in accordance with (provided she otherwise qualifies), and in addition will receive one and one-half times her regular hourly rate of pay for all hours worked on the holiday. ARTICLE HOLIDAYS. The expression "Holiday" wherever used i n this Agreement shall mean any one of the following:- New Years Day Canada Day Victoria Day Labour Day Civic Holiday Boxing Day Thanksgiving Day Christmas Cay Good Friday Remembrance Day For employees who have completed their probationary period the Company will grant float holidays; the dates of which, for each employee, will be determined by mutual agreement between the Company and the employee; three (3) to be recognized within the period October and September and three (3) within October and September and three (3) within October and May Where a holiday as stated in Clause falls on a Saturday, the previous Friday will be observed in lieu thereof and if such holiday falls on a Sunday, .the following Monday will be observed in lieu thereof. Where the municipalities as recorded in Article of this Agreement observe days other than those laid out i n either or or of this Article, the Company may select such agreed days i n lieu of the holiday. Employees who qualify as per the requirements of of this Article shall receive seven and one-half hours pay a t their regular wage rate without having to work for such pay for either the holiday or day observed in thereof. To qualify for a statutory holiday, an active employee (not laid off or in receipt of Long Term Disability or Worker's Compensation) must be on duty on his preceding and following scheduled work days. Absence due to illness will be considered as having been on duty, providing upon request of the Company the employee concerned obtains proof of illness from a doctor. Also, an employee on leave of absence approved by the Company shall be deemed to have qualified. Each employee who qualifies per the requirements i n this Article shall receive his regular basic hourly rate of pay for the statutory holidays as agreed to in this Agreement without having to work on such a holiday. If the Government of Canada proclaims "Heritage Cay" as a statutory holiday the Company will add this day to of this Article to be observed on the Heritage subsequent to the proclamation, i n accordance with all the provisions o f Article Holidays.

ARTICLE HOLIDAYS. The Board recognizes the following as paid holidays for Employees: New Year's Day Civic Holiday Good Friday Labour Day Easter Monday Thanksgiving Day Victoria Day Christmas Day Canada Day Boxing Day Employees covered under this Agreement, including Employees, shall be entitled three floating holidays in addition to the above mentioned holidays. One floating holiday will be scheduled during Christmas break. The two remaining floating holidays will be taken during Christmas break, March break, summer break, or in the Administration Centres at a time mutually agreeable to the employee and supervisor. If and when a public holiday is proclaimed by either the Federal or Provincial Government, one floating holiday shall be eliminated on January 1st of the year the proclaimed holiday comes into effect. Employees are not eligible to receive holiday pay for any holidays which occur during a regularly scheduled lay-off time. When any of the above noted holidays falls on a Saturday or Sunday and is not proclaimed as being observed on some other day, the previous Friday or following Monday, as decided by the Board, shall to be the holiday or holidays for the purpose of this Agreement. Payment of holidays will be for part-time Employees on the basis of their status.
ARTICLE HOLIDAYS. The following will be recognized as holidays: New Year’s Day Thanksgiving Day Good Friday Remembrance Day Victoria Day Christmas Day July 1st Boxing Day Civic Holiday (1st Monday in August) December Labour Day An employee who has acquired seniority and who is not on lay-off or leave of absence will be paid for a holiday at the amount of eight (8) times his regular hourly rate of pay provided he works his last scheduled shift before and his first scheduled shift after the holiday and works his scheduled hours on the holiday. If he is scheduled to work, provided that when an employee who is not on a leave of absence or on lay-off is absent from work on any such shifts and such absence is excused by the Authority, he shall not lose his pay for the holiday. If an employee is absent from work on any such shifts due to his being ill, he shall not lose his pay for the holiday if he satisfies the Authority, when requested to do so, that his absence was due to such illness. If an employee works on any of the said holidays, he shall be paid for the holiday plus time and one-half his regular hourly rate for all hours worked by him on such holiday. All hours worked in excess of eight (8) on a holiday shall be paid at the rate of double time and one- half. If one of the said holidays occurs while an employee is on vacation, he will be paid in addition to his vacation pay and in lieu of the holiday, at the amount of eight (8) times his regular hourly rate of pay, or be given his first scheduled day of work off after vacation in lieu of said holiday. An employee shall notify the employer of his decision regarding the holiday referred to in this article at least fifteen (15) calendar days prior to the first day of his vacation. In the Maintenance and Trades classification, when a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the holiday will be observed on Monday.

ARTICLE HOLIDAYS. For the purpose of this Collective Agreement, statutory holidays shall mean: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and any other day or days so proclaimed by the Federal, Provincial, City of Winnipeg, or University of Manitoba authorities. When any of the aforementioned holidays falls on a scheduled day of rest, the Vice-president (Administration) shall designate another working day to be observed as the holiday in lieu thereof for non shift workers. Such designated day will be immediately preceding or following a weekend or another declared holiday. A "floating" paid holiday shall be observed in lieu of Easter Monday except as provided in Clause The Vice-president (Administration) shall declare by March 1st the day the floating holiday is to be observed as a paid holiday for all employees. The day the floating holiday is observed shall immediately precede or follow a weekend or another declared holiday. For purposes of Clause and the day the floating holiday is observed shall be deemed to be the day it falls. Easter Monday shall be considered a paid holiday for shift workers under the Schedule portion of this Collective Agreement and, for the purposes of Clause and shall be observed on the calendar day it falls.

The intent is that there will be no more than the number of paid holidays per calendar year set out in this Agreement for the duration of this Agreement.
