Common use of ARTICLE HOLIDAYS Clause in Contracts

ARTICLE HOLIDAYS. The Board recognizes the following as paid holidays for Employees: New Year's Day Civic Holiday Good Friday Labour Day Easter Monday Thanksgiving Day Victoria Day Christmas Day Canada Day Boxing Day Employees covered under this Agreement, including Employees, shall be entitled three floating holidays in addition to the above mentioned holidays. One floating holiday will be scheduled during Christmas break. The two remaining floating holidays will be taken during Christmas break, March break, summer break, or in the Administration Centres at a time mutually agreeable to the employee and supervisor. If and when a public holiday is proclaimed by either the Federal or Provincial Government, one floating holiday shall be eliminated on January 1st of the year the proclaimed holiday comes into effect. Employees are not eligible to receive holiday pay for any holidays which occur during a regularly scheduled lay-off time. When any of the above noted holidays falls on a Saturday or Sunday and is not proclaimed as being observed on some other day, the previous Friday or following Monday, as decided by the Board, shall to be the holiday or holidays for the purpose of this Agreement. Payment of holidays will be for part-time Employees on the basis of their status.

One floating holiday will be scheduled during Christmas break. The two remaining floating holidays will be taken during Christmas break, March break, summer break, or in the Administration Centres at a time mutually agreeable to the employee and supervisor.
