Common use of Article Four Clause in Contracts

Article Four. If investments for companies or citizens or nationals of one of the Contracting Parties suffer losses in the other State resulting from war or other military action, or as a result of the general civil disturbances such as revolutions, rebellions, strife and violence of a general nature that have an equivalent effect, the host country of the investments that suffered the damage shall give to the affected party the same treatment it gives to its citizens or its companies that may suffer similar damage, or similar to treatment which will be given to people or companies of other states, to apply the better treatment.
