Active Service. Period of time during which an employee actually worked in the service of the board or boards (institutions) to which this board is the successor since his or her last hiring or during which his or her salary was maintained. An employee shall acquire one year of active service if his or her salary was maintained or if he or she actually worked for two hundred and sixty (260) days.
