Active Service. The time spent as a regular employee on the City of Milwaukee payroll including the performance of assigned duties for the City and paid time not worked. In order for paid time to count as active service for vacation purposes, such time, together with any authorized unpaid leaves of absence must be continuous from the date of appointment. Active service shall also include the time spent by an employee who takes a military leave. In the event of an employee's resignation, discharge or retirement from City employment, active service shall cease as of the employee's last day at work.

Active Service. Active service" is defined as time spent at work in a regular paid status as well as paid vacation, paid holidays, CTO and/or paid sick leave. Active employment does not include any other hours paid for accrued benefits except those specifically mentioned above.
