OFF PROCEDURE. When it is necessary to reduce the work force, the Company will advise the Union Committee as far in advance as possible, but not less than hours. The Company will give the Union Committee every opportunity to discuss the proposed reduction. If the Union Committee requests additional time, the Company may grant a further extension of the proposed action for hours. Transfer resulting from a shortage of work shall be made on the basis of mill seniority and ability. Senior employees shall have the right to in on bottom jobs which they are able to perform effectively. If lay-offs are decided upon, the employees with the least mill seniority shall be laid off, subject to the relative ability of the individuals available to do the work. Individuals on lay-off from the mill will retain such rights and privileges that are specifically noted in this Agreement. With the consent of both parties, the seniority provisions of this Agreement may be amended in order to accommodate an employee who has incurred a major disability. If agreement is reached in a specific case, the Company will make every effort to insure continuity of employment for the individual concerned. Generally in the case of a reduction in the work force, employees will be demoted step by step down their lines of progression (job seniority) in the reverse order of the steps in their promotions. Lay-offs from the Mill will be on a mill seniority basis, the last man in the Mill being the first man out provided that the remaining employees can meet the normal requirements of the work.
OFF PROCEDURE. OFF PROCEDURE. In all cases of layoff, four (4) hours’ notice shall be given to the Union Office and Journeymen Sheet Metal Worker or Registered Apprentice. At the time of layoff, must be supplied with Record of Employment (XXX) and paid in full in accordance with this Agreement. If at the time of layoff the member has not been given payment and Record of Employment (XXX) as noted, shall be paid for four (4) straight time hours for any inconvenience. Payment and Record of Employment will be sent registered mail within two working days at the Employer’s expense. Any dispute arising from the layoff of a senior mechanic shall be brought before the Joint Conference Board.
OFF PROCEDURE. At the Facility, the amendments providing for the merging of seniority lists will only occur with the agreement of the other bargaining unit. Consistent with the opportunity to chain bump, all employees who are potentially impacted will be given notice of lay off at the outset of the process. An identical paying classification shall include any classification where the straight time hourly wage rate at the level of service corresponding to that of the laid off employee is one percent (1%) of the laid off employee’s straight time hourly wage rate. In the event that there are no employees within the laid off employee’s classification with lesser seniority who have scheduled hours equal to, or less than the employee being laid such employee may bump a less senior employee with greater regularly scheduled hours within of the laid off employee’s regularly scheduled hours within her classification. In the event that there are no employees with lesser seniority in a lower or identical paying classifications as defined in this article, a laid-off employee will have the right to displace an employee with less seniority, who has scheduled hours equal to or less than the employee laid off, in a classification where the straight time hourly rate at the level of service corresponding to that of the laid off employee is within five percent (5%) of the laid off employee’s straight time hourly rate provided he or she is qualified for and can perform the duties wit...
OFF PROCEDURE. In the event of a reduction in the work force, lay-off shall commence with the employee with the least amount of total Departmentalseniority with the Fire Departmentwithin the job classification (rank) affected. Employees shall be given one month’s notice of lay-off. Ability and qualifications being sufficient, any employee so laid off shall be permitted to use total seniority with the Fire Departmentto displace an employeewith less seniority in a lowerjob grade.
