Teacher Exchange a. Notification of intent to return to teaching following an approved teacher exchange shall be made to the Superintendent or designate, in writing, on or before April 30th for return in the following school year.
b. Upon return from an approved teacher exchange, the teacher shall be assigned to a position for which they have the necessary qualifications in the same school where they taught before the leave. Failing this, they shall be assigned to a comparable position in the District.
Teacher Exchange. An exchange is a temporary trading of positions between Teachers at two different schools. According to time lines established by the Joint Staffing Committee, teachers interested in an exchange shall notify the Union using an online Teacher Exchange Information form. The Union shall compile a list of teachers interested in an exchange, and the list shall be forwarded to all school sites for posting. It is the responsibility of individual Teachers to arrange mutually agreed exchanges according to the process outlined in L16.03.01 to L16.03.06 below.
Teacher Exchange. 1. A teacher exchange with another school district may not be extended beyond one (1) year.

Teacher Exchange. 9.01 Permanent contract teachers desiring one (1) year exchanges within the Board may apply in writing to the Director of Human Resources prior to the last teaching day in February.
9.02 The Director of Human Resources shall undertake to publish a list by March 15th of teachers desiring exchanges within the Board and invite applications from interested teachers by April 15th.
9.03 In order to encourage teacher exchanges, the Director of Human Resources shall guarantee teachers entering into an exchange reinstatement to the position held prior to the exchange or, in the event said position is phased- out, a position mutually agreed upon.
9.04 All teacher exchanges shall be subject to the approval of the Director of Human Resources and the applicants shall be notified as soon as possible after May 15th. The Director of Human Resources shall not unreasonably withhold permission for teachers or supervisory personnel to participate in any lateral teacher exchange. The Director of Human Resources shall provide, the reason(s) for the refusal to teachers or supervisory personnel who are refused permission to undertake a teacher exchange.
9.05 For an exchange agreement to continue for a second year, an application must be made to the Director of Human Resources by April 15th. If all parties agree, the exchange may continue a second year.
(a) For an exchange to become permanent, where an exchange has continued for two (2) consecutive years, an application must be made to the Director of Human Resources by April 15th. If all parties agree, the exchange shall become permanent.
(b) Notwithstanding clause 9.06 (a), a teacher exchange may be made permanent at the end of the first school year provided that the exchange teachers are in mutual agreement and permission has been received, in writing, from the Director of Human Resources.
9.07 If a permanent contract exchange partner is determined to be surplus in the region and scheduled for lay-off and/or surplus in a school pursuant to Article 12 – Security of Position, then the exchange arrangement shall be null and void.
Teacher Exchange. 1. The Board shall approve all successful applications for teacher exchange approved by the Ministry of Education.
Teacher Exchange. 17.01 Exchange of teachers amongst schools will be encouraged by the Centre. Any teacher desiring an exchange to another school shall notify their Principal and make application to the Director of Human Resources, or designate, on or before March 1st of the school year prior to the exchange. The Director of Human Resources, or designate, following consultation with the teachers and their respective Principals, shall decide whether such exchange shall be authorized. Arrangements for exchanges shall be completed by April 30th of the school year prior to such exchanges. Such exchanging teachers shall be entitled to the opportunity to return to their original schools in a manner consistent with the rights and procedures described in Article 12.08, which apply in similar manner.
17.02 The teacher exchange may be made permanent at the end of the school year provided the exchange teachers are in mutual agreement and the necessary authorization and permission from all parties as identified in 17.01 is received in writing to the Director of Human Resources.
(a) Should a staff reduction occur affecting either of the exchange teachers during the staffing process, then the teacher exchange shall be rescinded.
(b) Should staff reductions occur after the teacher exchange has been made permanent, the teacher approved for that school will follow the provisions in Article 19.
Teacher Exchange. 1. a. Where a teacher is participating in a teacher exchange program, the exchange shall be a direct exchange. The exchange teacher shall be treated as the incumbent (as if they were remaining in the school) for purposes of room and teaching assignment.
Teacher Exchange. The School District will participate in a staff exchange program with those school districts in the United States and those foreign countries with similar educational standards. The purpose of the exchange program is to provide Belmont teachers with a new and different professional experience.
(a) To be considered for the program, a staff member must:
(1) have completed five (5) years of service in Belmont and have served five (5) years since any previous leave;
(2) make application prior to February 1 of the year preceding the exchange year;
(3) be recommended by his/her building Principal.
(b) Final approval of an exchange will be granted by the Superintendent of Schools. Approval will be based on the interest of a Belmont teacher who meets the qualifications prescribed above, the effect of the exchange on the district, and the acceptance of an exchange teacher as a replacement.
(c) Exchange teachers who will be coming to Belmont will be accepted on the basis of:
(1) academic background and strength of subject knowledge;
(2) demonstrated success as a classroom teacher;
(3) recommendation of the home Principal and the Superintendent of Schools;
(4) ability to fulfill the assignment of the teacher leaving Belmont.
(d) Teachers who apply to come to Belmont under the exchange program will go through a comparable selection process that Belmont follows in hiring any new member of the staff. Exceptions may be made by the Administration for the interview process.
(e) Belmont staff members who participate in an exchange will be under contract with the exchange district except for salary and benefits.
(f) The teacher coming to Belmont will be under contract with Belmont except for salary and benefits.
(g) The exchange year will count toward seniority for the Belmont teacher.
(h) Final disposition of the application will take place only if both participating school systems accept the respective applicants. Failure by either school system to do so will terminate the proposal.

16.03.01 Requests for an exchange must have the agreement of all Teachers and Principals involved.
16.03.02 Requests shall be made in writing to the Human Resources Officer, Teaching Staff (see HPEDSB Form, Article 37) in the time lines established by the Joint Staffing Committee. Applications will be treated as confidential by the JSC.
16.03.03 Requests will be made for a one year period but may be renewed for a second year with the agreement of all parties.
16.03.04 At the end of the second year, the Teachers must return to their original school. If all parties agree, the exchange will become permanent.
16.03.05 Exchange teachers remain attached to their original school for the purposes of transfer and surplus until such time as the exchange becomes permanent.
16.03.06 The Joint Staffing Committee finalizes moves at such times as it may deem appropriate, subject to the terms of the Collective Agreement.
Teacher Exchange. A teacher exchange program will be made available to assigned teachers after the third Friday in June. It is understood that the exchange must be mutually agreed upon by all involved parties (eg Teachers, Principals and Superintendents)
