RT60 definition

RT60 stands for reverberation time. RT60 is the time (in seconds) taken for the sound level in a room to decrease by 60 decibels following the abrupt termination of the source of sound. RT60 is the primary measure of ‘acoustic liveness’ of a space. A short RT60 (i.e. less than 0.9 seconds) favours speech intelligibility, while a long RT60 (i.e. greater than 1.5 seconds) favours music.
