RT60 definition

RT60 stands for reverberation time. RT60 is the time (in seconds) taken for the sound level in a room to decrease by 60 decibels following the abrupt termination of the source of sound. RT60 is the primary measure of ‘acoustic liveness’ of a space. A short RT60 (i.e. less than 0.9 seconds) favours speech intelligibility, while a long RT60 (i.e. greater than 1.5 seconds) favours music. For the purposes of this document the RT60 is the average of the 500 Hz, 1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz octave bands;
