pluggability definition

pluggability of a framework specifically means its ability to cope with the replacement of components advertising similar functionality. This replacement can be carried out on a static basis at design time, or dynamically during the system’s runtime. The pluggability can therefore be considered to be the framework’s ability to support the configuration and reconfiguration of the overlay on an architectural basis. One of the major motivations behind structuring overlay implementation in a component based design is to allow architectural adaptation to take place and therefore the framework’s support of this is centric to the success of the system.
