Permanent Way definition

Permanent Way means track and bridge assets including formation, retaining walls, drainage systems, access roads, cuttings, embankments, tunnels, subways, fences along the rail corridor, ballast, sleepers, rails, rail fastenings, points and crossings, culverts and pipes (major), rail bridges and road overbridges (excluding footbridges). The term excludes fences surrounding other assets such as stations, freight terminals, workshops, depots and buildings.
Permanent Way means the railway track of the Branch Line, comprising the earthwork formation, ballast, sleepers, rails, fastenings and other property necessarily forming part of the permanent way, together with the land on which such ballast, sleepers, rails and fastenings are laid and includes a reference to: – 2.1.50.1. any level crossing, bridges, tunnels, culverts, retaining walls or other structures used for the support of, or otherwise in connection with, the permanent way; 2.1.50.2. any walls, fences or other structures bounding the railway or bounding any adjacent property; 2.1.50.3. any road(s) servicing the railway track; and 2.1.50.4. any Marshalling Yard used exclusively for the Branch Line is located;

Permanent Way or “Perway” means the permanently installed rail infrastructure comprising a railway line. This includes tracks, bridges and platforms, signalling systems, electrical systems, ballast and rail track amongst other aspects.
