NIMAC definition

NIMAC means the center established in section 674(e) of the Act, through the American Printing House for the Blind (APH), not later than one year after the date of enactment of IDEA. NIMAC’s duties are:

  • The publisher shall, for each textbook ordered, furnish an electronic file in the National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standards (NIMAS) format that will be deposited in the National Instructional Materials Access Center (NIMAC) from which accessible versions of the particular textbook may be produced for students with print disabilities.

  • The Publisher agrees to prepare and submit, on or before the instructional materials due date for that review cycle in question a NIMAS file set to the NIMAC for every text that complies with the terms and procedures set forth by the NIMAC.
