Bar Code Symbology definition

Bar Code Symbology means indicia for representing data or information in the form of bars, marks, dots, shapes or other varying-contrast elements of various widths or dimensions, including, without limitation, (i) one dimensional symbologies, such as UPC, EAN and Code 39, which represent data or information in the form of bars or elements of various heights and/or widths arranged in a predetermined pattern, such as rows or columns, (ii) all stacked bar codes such as Code 49, Composite Code and PDF 417, (iii) all matrix code symbologies, and (iv) dot codes.

Examples of Bar Code Symbology in a sentence

  • Two Dimensional Bar Code Symbology" shall mean a bar code symbology in which information is stored in two dimensions or directions such as stacked bar code symbologies (such as Code 49, PDF 417, and Supercode, etc.), matrix code symbologies (such as Code One, DataMatrix, MaxiCode, VeriCode, Glyph, Array Tag, etc.) and dot code symbologies (such as MMP, D▇▇▇▇▇▇ code, etc.), as contrasted with a one dimensional or "linear" bar code symbol such as UPC.
