Astragal definition

Astragal means a horizontal or vertical molding attached to the meeting edge of one leaf of a pair of doors to retard the passage of smoke, flame, or gases during a fire, and, in the case of a Dutch door, also to ensure that the lower leaf of the door closes in conjunction with the upper leaf.
