On October 7, 2013, the City Commission unanimously approved the design submitted by Honor Flight Michigan Legacy, Inc. for the Michigan World War II Legacy Memorial to be constructed at the northwest corner of Memorial Park. Since that time, the Legacy has been actively raising funds for the Memorial. Those fundraising efforts have reached the point that the Legacy wants to finalize an agreement with the City for use of the property and maintenance of the Memorial.
