A congenital defect is a problem that will not allow the pup to grow to a normal life expectancy. A bone joint issue, luxating patella, going blind, being deaf, having a hernia or having a limp is not considered life threatening. A major body organ that sustains life going bad, heart, lungs, liver, etc is considered a congenital defect and is covered for one year.
