It is one of the basic factors of the trademark protection to determine the goods and services, for which protection is requested via trademark application. The trademarks acquire distinctiveness via those goods/services and rise in value before the public. The trademarks cannot be dissociated from the goods and services for which they are registered. For instance, a firm having gained reputation with its products in food sector might be a very strong trademark in this sector; however if this trademark is used on the electronic products, the trust gained before the public cannot be provided. Classification carries great importance for determining those goods/services easier in trademark applications and enabling a trademark to be distinguished from another trademark in terms of goods and services.
