The Bowie Senior Center currently operates eight buses from their facility to serve the needs of our senior community. These buses are used daily to transport residents for a variety of uses that include medical appointments, grocery shopping, general shopping routes and special trips. Of the eight buses, the City has acquired three of them from the Statewide Special Transportation Program commonly referred to as SSTAP. This is a valuable program that requires only a 5% match of City funds for the purchase of a vehicle that normally runs in the $65,000 range. These vehicles are evaluated from time to time and replaced based on mileage, repair history and service levels offered by each community.
