All of the District’s automated systems, including electronic mail, voice mail, internet access and electronic storage systems are district property and are not confidential. The district has the right to access, review, copy, modify and delete any information transmitted through or stored in the system, including e-mail messages. Files containing personal information or business of an employee are treated no differently than the district’s files and the employee has no expectation of privacy in such materials.

We have Internet access to all workstations and wireless access to portable devices throughout the school. The primary use of the Internet is for curriculum purposes and the transfer of information relevant to the goals of the school and achievement of improved student outcomes. The Internet can only be accessed by students under direct supervision of Staff. Use of the computers and wireless environment and the Internet are privileges. Access entails responsibility. Access to the Internet will be issued to those students who sign the following agreement to ensure the Internet is used only as a teaching and learning tool for school use. Internet access is available to students at Jindalee State School as part of their educational program. Accessing information through an ICT device is an important skill that students need to learn. Education Queensland uses an extensive filter mechanism in an endeavour to protect children from inappropriate sites. Internet use at school has a learning purpose, under the broad supervision of the classroom teacher. Students are NOT permitted access for free web “surfing”. However no system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure and responsible use by students is important. Because misbehaviour using devices can easily have extensive consequences, responses to student mis-use may also bring significant consequences. A 3-week ban on access is a normal consequence for deliberate misuse.
